Saturday Morning

041

Oh, how I wish you could have been here yesterday! The sun came out in the early morning and all the trees, shrubs, and tall grasses were bejeweled with tiny rainbows. It was dazzling. In the afternoon, we made our first foray into town, and I could hardly keep my eyes on the road for staring at the silvery, glittery trees. Alas, I don’t think I was able to capture that incredible beauty with my camera.

Anyway, today, Brenna is off to take her very first standardized test ever, the ACT. We’ve been practicing and she’s well prepared, but she will probably be a little nervous, and if you think of us this morning, say a little prayer for her, please? The test is from 8-Noon, Eastern time.

And we have finally chosen our baby names! We had one, but not the other, and after that last ultrasound, it was discovered that the other was the one we needed. In no particular order, our baby will be named either William David or Evelyn Celia. I’m not usually into naming people after other people, but for some reason, this time, I wanted a son to have his father’s name, and Evelyn was the name of my grandmother on my father’s side.

So. Now that both are chosen, I am ready. Well, almost. I still have to pack my hospital bag. Maybe this afternoon. πŸ™‚

  1. I said a Hail Mary for Brenna.

I have always loved the look of an ice and snow-covered landscape. Especially when the roads are clear. And I’m warm. But I do miss the peace and quiet of shoveling snow. That was usually my job while hubby was inside dealing with chaos.

Love the names. But we’re the exact opposite and all my kids’ names (first and middle) came from a relative, some close, some distant. If we were to have another girl, we’re all set (leftover from picking names for George), but boys are getting harder. And I had to insist that “Thomas” be included one way or another with the last (he is George Thomas) in honor of my FIL, but my husband felt that he couldn’t use it in case his brother ever wanted to (his brother is the “junior”). But brother is 40 and unmarried, so I put my foot down. I wanted it as a first name, but middle is fine.

  2. I’m eagerly awaiting news and pictures of your new little one! πŸ™‚

  3. I am so happy for you!! Soon you will have a little baby to hold!!!!! I love the names. Hasn’t it been beautiful lately?!? The ice on the trees with the sun is breathtaking and I also have been unable to capture what I see on the camera. Praying for Brenna!

  4. P.S. praying for you also. Hope you are feeling well!!

  5. Thank you for your prayers, ladies, for Brenna AND for me.

She did great this morning, making it through all four tests before time ran out (though I hear she cut it pretty close on the math section). Time was our weak point and that’s what we’ve been working on. Time and the different test-taking strategies needed to come in before the buzzer!

I’m doing fine. A little nervous about delivery this time, for some reason, and so not in any particular hurry. I’m taking it plenty easy and the rest of the family is doing a great job carrying the load I put down. πŸ™‚

    Love you all!
